On 6th June 2021, the Church celebrates the Feast of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ. With this holiday we honor and worship the Lord's Body and His Precious Blood, given for the salvation of all people, transformed into food and drink, in order to sustain our "life in the Spirit." The Eucharist is the feast of faith. With His sacred food, Christ offers us a means of immortality and a pledge of resurrection.
The Eucharist, as the continual "present" of Christ, truly represents the heart of the Church, the culmination and culmination of reverence for God, as Christ himself says: "That they may all be one: and they shall be one with us, that the world may believe that thou hast sent me. And the glory which thou gavest me I have given unto them, that they may be one, even as we are one: I am in them, and You in Me, that they may be in complete unity, and that the world may know that You have sent Me and loved them as You have loved Me. ”(John 17: 21-23)
The holiday Corpus Domini, which is one of the most popular in Christianity, is celebrated with solemn processions. In Rome, the procession is led by the pope himself. The use of the procession for the Feast of the Body and Blood of Christ was introduced by Pope John XXII in 1316. The celebration is usually celebrated on the Thursday after the Feast of the Holy Trinity in countries where it is a public holiday or where it is not, it is celebrated in next Sunday.
Lord Jesus Christ, Who in the wonderful sacrament of the Eucharist left us the memory of Your Passover, made us to worship with living faith the holy mystery of Your Body and Blood, so that we may always feel in ourselves the benefits of redemption. You are God and you live and reign with God the Father, in unity with the Holy Spirit, through all the ages of the ages. Amen.
